HEY-HEY-HEY – GOOO-OOD BYE!!!!!

Now GET THE FUCK OUT, GEORGE!

Don’t let the door of the Oval Office BREAK YOU IN HALF on the way out.

Such a great day, even if I don’t know how much President Obama will be able to do.  He will need 2 full terms to be able to start to undo the FUCK-UPS that the gruesome twosome of Gorgeous George and Dirty Dick have perpetrated on the American people, and the rest of the world, to some degree.  I certainly wish him the best of luck, as do so many others – he’s going to need it, along with the cooperation of his party, and the Republicans, and the efforts of Americans themselves.

Now, everyone together:

Na-na-naaa-na! Na-na-naaa-na! HEY! HEY! HEY! GOOO-OOD BYE!!!

Hardy-har-har, Steven!

Thursday, 18 September 2008

Our beloved Prime Robot Minister, Steven Harper, apparently decided to back up one of his Ministers when calls came for said minister’s head, after having made a thoroughly tasteless joke about the deaths linked to the recent listeriosis outbreak.

Story from AP News

You should back him up, Steven – after all, he’s as funny as you are – namely, not at all.

Here’s to another minority government. :)

Where did all this crap come from?

Sunday, 5 August 2007

Just so anyone who trips over this page knows (whether they care to or not), all posts before/below this one were brought over from my Blogger pages. Already I can see it was a good idea, if only because I find WordPress to be a more finely tuned interface. Certainly it has been incredibly easy to make the move.

Enjoy – more to come, eventually.

Today marks the 18th anniversary of the last day we spoke, old friend. I hope all is well for you, wherever you may be.

You have remained a very special friend to me, with all the fun we had in Grade 7, and all the talks on the bus to and from school. I thoroughly enjoyed your company, more so than anyone else I have met to this day.

Take care, and I hope that one day we may meet again.

Yes, I mean you, Christina Pastula.

And so we come to my favourite of all things pleasing: Women.

I have known a great many women who are every bit as beautiful without as they are within. I consider myself exceptionally lucky, in that regard. Tips of the hat to the best of the best of the best (with honours, of course) – Christina P., Wendy, Lasha, Chantal, Deborah, Christina L., Leslie, Sasha P. – and to Jennifer Lynn Allan, Miss September 1996. Every one of these women are special to me, and have left lasting impressions on me. And each and every one is fantastically easy on the eyes, in my opinion at least. It’s a rough life when you have to put up with having known amazingly beautiful ladies like these as friends (aside from Jennifer Allan, who I could only be so lucky to know personally – before you call me on that).

My “type”? Despite the obviously particular (picky?) standard I may have set with these ladies regarding appearances, intelligence is my primary criteria – I don’t suffer airheads gladly. Humour, Compassion, and Passion come next – wallflowers need not apply here – I’ll play that part well enough myself, thank you. Oh – and it would be a definite bonus if you liked one, or all, of the following – Mexican food, Star Trek, Hockey. That’s not asking too much, is it? Come on!

Selfishness

Sunday, 5 August 2007

Some time ago I came across an interesting definition of true selfishness, or, more precisely, a truly selfish person. This definition I found in the introduction to a translation of the Tao Te Ching by D. C. Lau. The truly selfish man was described as someone who would not allow indulgence in the good things in life to harm his body, nor would he take advantage of others for the sake of gratifying his own desires, in case such a tactic should cause him to come to harm. This description was meant to apply to the kind of man who would make a great leader, but it is equally applicable to the general population. In this sense, a great number of us, myself certainly included, have a lot to learn – a truly selfish person would never allow himself to grow as obese as so many of us are. A truly selfish person would also be much more considerate of others, so as not to give anyone reason to “get in his face” or cause him physical harm.

I’ve been somewhat more successful at this aspect of selfishness, as I prefer to be left alone 95% of the time. If I were to go out of my way to piss someone off, that person would probably want to get back at me at a time when I was trying to be alone. This is a good enough reason for me to stay out of everyone’s way. Now I just have to work some more on my mental and physical discipline, and start exercising my damn gut away, so I can stay healthy enough to have the odd indulgence now and then. This will take some time, I’m sure. At least I shouldn’t have to worry about anyone getting in my way while I work on this.

Nothing lifts my spirits more than something I consider beautiful. I am not just talking about feminine beauty – my absolute favourite form of beauty – but anything I find beautiful to my senses.

Visions – I love a well formed object. Especially my favourite cars, BMWs – aside from the new 7 series, but that’s for the Dark Side. These cars are so perfectly proportioned and understated. What a treat to my eyes. Also, a nicely appointed abode, preferably a condominium (no LAWN!), with well planned spaces and fine appliances, is incredibly appealing. Check out the upcoming Fairmont Pacific Rim, a premium example of what I like. This building’s interior beauty is easily matched by the view from it’s residences, particularly towards Stanley Park – intoxicating. On the other hand, if I AM going to have a lawn, it should surround a nice, solid Craftsman-inspired house – like those by Robinson . Near the top of my list of favourite sights (No 1 should be obvious by now) is movies – I can watch some movies several times over, if they have the right “look”.

Sounds – I listen to music for hours every day – at work, at home, just about anywhere. U2, Dave Matthews, Matthew Good – all of these artists consistently produce thoroughly enjoyable tunes. A good movie soundtrack to go with whatever flick I’m enjoying also works well. Nothing like a beautiful feminine voice, though. Anyone ever seen that Aveeno commercial with that sweet sexy goddess talking about blemishes (could be hemhorroids, for all I care)? What a perfectly warm, pleasant tone she has. Great inflections as well (look for her on a Pantene commercial shaking and shimmying that awesome figure – some sinfully delicious eye candy). – PS: Her name, I found, is Daniella Van Graas.

Scents – This ties in with Taste very closely. The scents of the foods I like are just as important as their tastes. I am very particular (or fussy, depending) about how things smell. Suffice to say I will avoid being around anything that smells completely unpleasant to me – especially people that smell like they’ve never touched a bar of soap in their lives – nasty.

Taste – Ahh, Food Sweet Food. I love a good, sensual meal – rich, well rounded, and spicy (but not TOO spicy) flavours are my favourite. Bland foods are not at all welcome – no tapioca for me (or American Beer).

Touch – Anything soft and warm is usually pleasing to me. I love the feel of finely made fabrics – clothes, bed linens, etc. My new job allowed me to pick up a shirt by Ermenegildo Zegna – now I just need to lose my gut so it can look good on me. It certainly feels good – a good “hand” is the term I’ve heard. Next step will be one of their suits – anyone have 3 or 4 thousand dollars they don’t need?

More to come on this topic, with a narrower focus (three guesses on this, but the first 2 don’t count).

I am capable of spending enourmous amounts of time doing nothing more than listening to music, watching movies, or reading (with some good tunes for ambience). The pleasure this gives me cannot be measured. I must find more time for such wonderfully aimless lounging about. I have a full-time job now – an easy one, for the most part, but it still keeps me from my bed – Lounging Central for me. Therefore, I must MAKE the time for this.

My new computer will make chilling out even easier, as I can pop a DVD in and watch it on a 19 inch monitor from my bed -need to grab a ATI Remote wonder, though, for professional-grade slacking off – (DONE as of Sept 2004, as part of the TV wonder package- now I NEVER HAVE TO MOVE!). The next step is to get some better speakers, with Surround capabilites (also done as of 2004). And a mini-fridge. No toilet, though – YUCK – one for my cat is enough, thank you.

For even more aimlessness, incense is needed (2 or 3 Coronas wouldn’t hurt, either). Then I can just turn on my favourite, slow tunes on Winamp, and meditate. Your Blue Room by U2 works superbly for this. Dave Matthews’ Angel is also a good choice. And then there’s The Tea Party – with all of that Eastern influence, I can make it all the way to Nirvana (or Xanadu, etc).

Hell, I feel better just THINKING about chilling out like that.

A “kinder, gentler” Rant (I probably owe 2 bits to Dubya Senior for that)

I am thankful that these terms have become less popular in common usage in the last few years. (UPDATE – Nov 2004 – They’re BAAAAAAAAAACK!! – thanks to Dubya and his rabid followers – 4 more years of fundamentalist shite – and hacking away at freedoms such as abortion rights – JOY!!) I can only hope that this will lead to people giving up on the ideas altogether (Not in the Red States, to be sure, for a LONG time). I’ve never cared much for the sanitised world that the supporters of PC – along with those for Family Values and Affirmative Action – have tried to create. I like things a little messy, and definitely dynamic (but not horrendously chaotic, to be sure). Also, people should make these decisions for themselves, lest they let their brains turn to mush from lack of use. Is it really that hard to change the channel if you don’t want to watch something (or don’t want your children to)? I doubt it. Oh – and stop being so sensitive about things which have little impact on you, just so you can pat yourself on the back for being a socially conscious (but otherwise unconscious) person – Activism is not a virtue.

As for Affirmative Action – PLEASE give it UP! What does it help if a person is not hired on his or her own merits, as they should be? It might get you re-elected to push this idea, but I don’t see what long-term good will come of it.

Seriousness

Sunday, 5 August 2007

Yeah! Hey! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!

Ok, this might be going a little too far, but suffice to say we could probably all afford to take things less seriously. I just hope I’ll be able to take my own advice, eventually, and LIGHTEN UP!

I have been accused of thinking too much, which is probably an accurate assessment, at times. Ironic, considering what a sensualist I am, and how much I love to just lie around, watching a movie, or listening to some (not too heavy) music. I also love a good meal – Mexican especially. If you’re ever in Victoria, BC, check out Cafe Mexico – excellent food, terrific atmosphere. I love their chipotle steak (you have to ask for it, instead of chicken – they’re very accomodating, thankfully). A good Peppercorn New York steak at the Keg (or Cactus Club) also does the trick – with a cold Corona or a nice Cabernet Sauvignon, depending on the company. I can lose myself completely in enjoying a good meal.

One more thing that keeps me from getting bogged down into a brooding mood is the sight of a beautiful woman, clothed or not – truly heavenly to me. That’s another posting, or 10, altogether.
